MISSION
John Fowler and Marie-Claire O'Reirdan created Opera Experience Southeast, a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, from a profound desire to nurture and promote emerging American-educated operatic talent. During past decades there were more opportunities to hone key components of the production and performance process than exist today. All too often aspiring young professionals hear the comment: "we love what you do...come back when you have more experience."
Opera Experience Southeast was founded to address that need.
WHAT WE DO
- Present professional opera performances and artistic outreach to the Carolinas and greater US.
- Provide performing opportunities, coaching and career mentoring to US-trained operatic talent.
- Educate and build future US opera audiences through performance and artistic outreach.
HOW ARE WE DIFFERENT?
Each year hundreds of superbly talented young Americans pour out of US opera programs, eager to represent our country internationally and lacking only the professional experience and career guidance to make that happen.
Opera Experience Southeast selects from the very best emerging US educated artists to participate in an intensive and carefully streamlined Performance and Professional Development Programs. Rehearsals and performances are combined with coaching and mentoring sessions with OES Company and Guest Experts. Each of our emerging artists performs a complete operatic role from beginning to end in one or more fully staged public performances, and also has the opportunity to rework audition materials with company and guest experts. Our company builds the opera audience of tomorrow and enriches the cultural and economic life of our region throughout the year by presenting concerts and other special events focusing on educational and community outreach.
