Wayne Hobbs, tenor, sang the roles of of Beppe in I Pagliacci and Gherardo in Gianni Schicchi with Opera Experience Southeast in June 2013. He has performed as an opera and concert soloist with companies in the United States, Canada, Italy, Germany and England including New York City Opera, McGill Opera, Vermont Opera Theater and the Vermont Mozart Festival. In 2005 he covered the role of Syme in the World Premiere of Lorin Maazel's 1984 and sang the role for the La Scala premiere in May of 2008. In 2007 at the New York City Opera, Wayne created the role of the Slave Auctioneer in Richard Danielpoor's Margaret Garner. In the same year, he made his Broadway debut singing the role of Piangi in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera. Wayne currently lives in Spartanburg, South Carolina and is finishing his Masters Degree at Converse College.
